The implementation of the Habitats and Birds EU Directives is a priority for the EU Member States in the nature conservation and therefore we would like to touch the proper implementation of some of their key articles. From the practical point of view, the Article 6.3 of the Habitats Directive belongs to those which deserve attention regarding to its use and effectiveness; the Czech Presidency intends to provide you with such evidence, and you will also see a concrete example in the field. Further, in order to be able to assess any current or future status of habitats and species in the EU, monitoring, indicators, data gathering and storage are the most important preconditions, and the NDM will also deal with this. Last but not least, as we promised in Chambord in autumn 2008, we will continue in dealing with the issue of connectivity.
